Flowers, not just for Sundays - Our new shop blooms on Columbia Road

We’re so excited to share that Botanique Workshop has opened a new shop on the famously floral Columbia Road, home of the iconic flower market that happens every Sunday. Big thanks to Amy of Fields Photography for capturing this iconic move, one box unwrapping at a time.

We officially opened our doors at 136 Columbia Road, E2 7RG last Friday and on Sunday we had our first Sunday flower market experience - which was beautifully manic, joyful, and full of energy. We loved every minute. We are so proud of how our shop has come together.

Leading on from the Exmouth Market shop, this new space is an expansion of Alice, the founders, dream to create a space that combines fresh flowers and plants with a meticulously curated collection of handcrafted artisan gifts, homeware and more. We are so excited to expand the Botanique team and our concept to Columbia Market, and of course we can't wait to meet customers old and new in this historic area.

Why Columbia Road?

Columbia Road Flower Market has a rich history as one of London’s most iconic Sunday rituals. But we believe flowers aren’t just for Sundays - and that’s the spirit behind our new shop. We’re here to celebrate the everyday magic of flowers, seven days a week (well, five - we rest midweek!).

Columbia Road Market has been in East London for over 160 years, originally established as a general food market, and slowly evolving from the 70s into the floral haven we know today. Since then, it has grown into one of London’s most iconic street markets, drawing crowds of florists, gardeners, locals, and tourists each Sunday with its overflowing buckets of blooms, colourful characters, and lively energy. When Ottilie our new landlady happened to reach and asked if we might be interested in taking her shop we couldn’t resist, it felt like this is the perfect place to grow our brand, it was meant to be! 

Columbia Road is much more than a market - it’s a cornerstone of London's flower scene. To have a Botanique Workshop store here is a real joy, we’re so proud to be a part of its history. 

Sunday flower arranging service

To complement the flower market - and to join in with the spirit of Sundays on Columbia Road - we’re offering a flower wrapping service. So, once you have chosen your beautiful blooms from the market, bring them to our shop where our experienced, friendly florists (for a small fee) will condition, arrange and wrap them beautifully for you. 

Whether you’re gifting them or taking them home, we’ll give your blooms a little extra love and attention.

While Sunday is undeniably special on Columbia Road, we’ve always believed that flowers belong in everyday life - not just for big occasions, and not just on Sundays.

We want it to be a place where you can pop in on a Thursday evening, or a quiet Monday morning, and leave with something beautiful - whether that’s a bunch of fresh flowers, a handmade candle, or a simple card.
