FAQs with Emily
What is the best colour scheme for a wedding?
Ultimately it’s whatever feel right for you. However, in my experience the best colour schemes are ones that consider the venue where the flowers will be and also the season when your wedding takes place i.e. if you're getting married in a neutral venue in spring then you might want to consider yellow as a colour scheme and monopolise all the beautiful misosa that's around. Or, if your venue is low light you might consider white flowers to brighten it up.
How many colours should I have for my wedding?
It’s totally up to you! You can have as many as you want but if you start mixing lots of different colours then I’d recommend making sure they're all in the same tone i.e. all pastel, all bright or all muted. Or pick one colour and use all the different shades of it i.e. using orange as you theme but ranging it from peach to tangerine. Your wedding florist can take you through a colour wheel and explore colours that compliment.
How do I create a wedding colour scheme?
Firstly consider your own favourite colours, maybe you have some colours that make the blues of your eyes pop or the darkness of your hair shine. Or a colour that’s sentimental to you. Then, consider the venue, what’s the décor like, the walls and the interiors, is it light or dark – what florals would complement the venue. You can also consider the season, is it sunny, winter or autumn, and think about the mood that this will create. Consider how your theme would work throughout the bridal party, do you have small children with flower crowns, baskets for petal scattering.
Do I need a wedding colour scheme?
If you're trying to achieve cohesiveness for your wedding then a colour theme will really help but ultimately, no you don’t; need a colour scheme, it’s your day to use colour how you wish. You can have different themes for the ceremony flowers and then another theme for the reception and a completely different theme for the bridal flowers as they all play different parts to their day and provide different purpose. You might want muted bridal flowers but really colour venue flowers - that's fine too!
