Meet Emily ... living everyday like it's a movie
Meet Emily, proud Scouser with an origin story. When she's not expertly pairing blooms with the perfect vase, you'll find her deep in a picnic, a pub roast, or a back-to-back cinema run - living her very own movie, one iconic London moment at a time.

Q: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off in London?
My favourite London day off usually starts with some sort of eggs, toast and a coffee. Followed by a long walk in the park (Richmond or Victoria being the best) then depending on the season either a picnic or a winter roast dinner in a pub. Maybe even a trip to the cinema - I’ve been back to back the last two weekends to see Marty Supreme and Hamnet. Both amazing. If I want to feel like living in my own movie then honourable mention to a Columbia Road flower market trip on a Sunday, Does it get more iconic?
Q: If you could only have one flower or plant in your home forever, what would it be - and why?
That’s a hard question for a florist, but if I really had to choose I’d pick Sweet peas. Sweet peas on vine specifically. I used to go to my Nan’s allotment every day after school and while my brother was given the job of digging, my job was to cut and arrange the sweet peas into jam jars in the shed. They are also one of the best scents in the world!
Q: What’s a small joy or ritual that brightens your everyday?
Calling my sisters and talking absolute nonsense.
Q: What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
Despite my scouse accent, I was actually born in Wales and lived there until I was 3 years old before moving back to Liverpool.
Q: Do you have a favourite maker or product in the Botanique shop right now?
All of hand thrown vases / ceramics - what would a florist be without a vase. Honestly most vases, buds and bowls I see are ‘form over function’ and you can tell that they haven’t been designed by a florist with arranging flowers in mind. We work with the amazing TB Stoneware based in the Cotswolds to create our range which holds flowers perfectly and also looks amazing.
Q: What’s one thing you’ve learned from working at Botanique that you’ll carry with you?
I’ve learnt a million things at Botanique, but it’s mostly taught me to believe in myself and my ideas. If you want something to happen, make it happen and you’ll be supported along the way.
Q:You’re in charge of the playlist in the shop - what’s your go-to song or artist?
I’m a big fan of the radio! I actually always wanted to be a radio DJ when I was a teenager so I’ve usually got the radio on - Jo Whiley is the best.
Emily x
