Meet Maya... The Maya-nificent New Face at Botanique
We’re thrilled to introduce the newest member of our Botanique family - the wonderfully creative, cloud-spotting, nap-loving Maya. With a camera in one hand and a half-finished craft project in the other, Maya brings a colourful mix of curiosity, international flair, and floral enthusiasm to the team.

From pole dancing in Brixton to photographing irises that look like watercolours, her world is anything but ordinary - and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Read on to find out what makes Maya tick, what her cheese plant is called (yes, really), and why she’s already found joy in the small but meaningful details of life at Botanique.
Q: What’s your favourite way to spend a day off in London?
My days off have many parts but usually include walking around battersea park taking photos of anything that catches my eye (usually clouds and flowers!), naps, one of my 1 million half done craft projects and pole dancing in Brixton! Although sometimes it’s mostly naps.
Q: If you could only have one flower or plant in your home forever, what would it be - and why?
Irises, irises, irises…I love bearded irises. They are so complex and look like mini watercolours. It amazes me that nature can do that and also my cheese plant, Arnold Schwarzenegger, because he’s family.
Q: What’s a small joy or ritual that brightens your everyday?
I take photos of everything and anything I see that makes me happy, so I’m always looking for beautiful things and it brings me so much joy.
Q: What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
My world is very international, my parents live in Malaysia, my brother in Colorado and I have lived in Spain, Portugal and Hong Kong! Oh and I’m obsessed with boxer dogs.
Q: Do you have a favourite maker or product in the Botanique shop right now?
I’m obsessed with the Coco Suzette hair claws, I love the moths and butterflies the best. Also the Kenzans are life changing for at home floristry!
Q: What’s one thing you’ve learned from working at Botanique that you’ll carry with you?
I’m pretty new at Botanique, but I’ve already learned how important careful curation is and thoughtful organisation can help to create a minimal waste and calm working environment.
Q:You’re in charge of the playlist in the shop - what’s your go-to song or artist?
I love Olivia Deane and Rosalia. I’m always looking for new music and really enjoy jazzy hip hop beats too. I have a very eclectic music taste from hip hop and RnB to tropicalia and cumbia music.

Maya x
